Historique :	Cette toile réalisée par un anonyme d’après Charles Lebrun La Descente du saint Esprit (musée du Louvre, 1654), est un morceau de retable acheté par la paroisse en 1833 à la paroisse de Prangey, autre village de la Haute-Marne, et qui était dans la chapelle du chanoine Verney, chanoine de la cathédrale de Langres.

Précision_sur la representation :	Au moment de la Pentecôte, l’Esprit saint vient aux apôtres, mais dans certaines représentations, la Vierge est elle aussi présente ; elle est ici même la figure centrale capte le regard. L’Esprit saint est figuré par des flammèches sur la tête de plusieurs des personnages présents, les apôtres qui entourent Marie, mais aussi sainte Anne, sainte Marie-Madeleine également représentées. Par rapport à la représentation figurée par Charles Lebrun en 1657, celle-ci est exactement inversée.
